We are excited to share with you that “Guide to the Butterflies of Honduras” is set to be released in 2023! The author, Robert Gallardo, reports that work on the forthcoming book is progressing.  He recently spent three days organizing an Excel file to determine the order in which the 585 photos of Skippers will appear in the new field guide.  It looks like we may have at least 39 pages of Skippers to sort through!  This comprehensive guide is a monumental undertaking requiring years of research and countless hours in the field. If you’re a fan of butterflies, you’re going to want to check out this upcoming book!

The “Guide to the Butterflies of Honduras” is an incredible guide that will become a must-have for any nature lover’s bookshelf. To be notified when this great book becomes available, sign up here!

Robert Gallardo is the lucky owner of Emerald Valley – a 50-acre mid-elevation forest in Honduras. Emerald Valley is currently home to 704 species of butterfly and at least one endemic species. Robert was born and raised in California and had a passion for nature from an early age, especially butterflies. After graduating from Humboldt State University in 1992, he joined the Peace Corps. He served three years in Honduras and has resided there ever since. He and his partner, Olivia, began working in earnest on a future “Guide to the Butterflies of Honduras” in early 2016 and have already discovered several new species for science.

In January 2023, we will host the Honduras Butterfly Festival and Conservation Tour. The aim of this tour is to help fund the publishing of this monumental “Guide to the Butterflies of Honduras.” Make sure to mark your calendars – this event you won’t want to miss!
